Measurements include implementing temporary barriers to separate construction areas from patient care areas, minimizing the generation and spread of dust and debris, and ensuring that all construction materials and equipment are properly cleaned and disinfected before entering patient care areas.

When it comes to healthcare construction projects, having actively engaged IPs can be incredibly valuable. They can offer expert guidance and recommendations that help mitigate the risk of infection transmission. By identifying high-risk areas like dust, mold, or potential exposure to contaminated materials, IPs can help keep everyone safe. In addition, IPs develop strategies to reduce the identified risks through appropriate infection prevention and control measures, such as exterior and interior barrier protection, hand hygiene, environmental controls, and personal protective equipment.

By having the IP(s) actively involved in all phases of healthcare construction projects, healthcare facilities can mitigate the risks of adverse patient outcomes and maintain patient safety.
